Canvas tote bag, so many options

Are you into paper, plastic, or canvas? In today’s society people are taking a larger role in caring for the environment. From the energy efficient light bulbs they purchase to the types of cars, even down to the types of bags we use for our groceries.

Up front we might need to put more money down for these items, but the payoffs in saving money and resources in the long term are generally worth it. To make a difference in our environmental footprint we need to start somewhere. That doesn’t mean abandoning the car completely for the bike, although in some cities it can be a great option. Not using your car as much is a great start, but so is actively recycling, composting, and just being aware of what we’re doing and the impact we’re making.

I was recently in a grocery store that’s known for selling fresh organic food. The cashier asked me if I wanted to make a small donation to a food charity, as a thank you he gave me a reusable Canvas Tote bag to use in the future. This store only uses paper bags for their groceries, but if I were to bring back that bag or any other bag for that matter, they would give me a credit of 5 cents per bag. And of course I can use this bag for many other things. It’s practical, will save me money and cuts back on my consumption of paper or plastic bags at grocery stores. Sounds good to me.

Aside from making great grocery bags, they can be used for books, games, clothing, or whatever makes sense. If you’re in the market for a canvas tote bag, but you want it to reflect your personality, Idakoos.com has a huge variety to choose from. If you can’t find one that speaks to you, we can customize one personally for you.

Keeping it Simple

One of the aspects that I appreciate most from travelling, with only a backpack, is learning to live with very little clothing. Selecting the clothing to go in the pack is important for me too, it needs to be clothing that I can mix and match easily and wear comfortably. I love to take my favorite T-shirts with me, I know that I’ll be using them for a while so I need to enjoy wearing them, but if it’s something that I’m totally in love with, it won’t make the bag. I don’t want to get so tired of it, or have something happen to it, that it won’t get worn again.

Aside from having to wash your cloths more often, it’s inevitable that you’re going to get tired of wearing the same shirts over and over again. The great thing about travelling light is that you’ll have room to make a purchase or two.

A couple of years ago I was visiting a friend in Lima, Peru. She took me to a shop, in the heart of Miraflores, which only opens a few times a week. This store sells clothing, from large U.S. companies that have minor flaws. While it’s a bit chaotic and you may have to dig threw lots of large piles of clothing, they are priced at a fraction of what you would normally spend. So a T-shirt that might usually cost $20 will only cost you $3. I was able to find a variety of California women’s T-shirts, and popular surf brand clothing. They also sold sweatshirts, shorts, pants, skirts, and swimwear.

It was great to walk away with several fun T-shirts, while spending less than $10. The fact that they were slightly flawed didn’t matter at all. They were serving a purpose by providing relief from my wardrobe boredom.

You’ll never have to worry about buying anything flawed at idakoos.com. We provide high quality fun and inspiring T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, and more! When wardrobe boredom strikes, we’ve got your back.

What’s your Sign?

When you gaze up at the night sky, what do you see? If you’re in a city, assuming it’s a clear night and not too smoggy, you might see the moon, and some stars. Depending on the earth’s rotation, what you see will vary of course. On a good night, you might also be able to see a planet or two, some satellites and various constellations.

It’s a whole other world when you’re away from the city lights and pollutants. When you’re in the middle of a National Park, far away from any lights, the sky is like an ocean. Living and breathing in beautiful twinkling lights. Big bright planets pop out and the constellations are so vibrant and easily identifiable. If there’s a full moon, you won’t even need a flash light or even car lights if you’re driving. The moon is like a big beautiful spot light illuminating your path.

The constellations, which make up the Zodiac, can be fun to search for amongst all the stars. Whether you follow the Zodiac or not, we were all born under a sign and at some point in our lives we’ll get asked, “What’s your sign?” It can be fun to compare signs and find out what our compatibility is with others.

If you’d like to express your sign with the world, we have Zodiac Sweatshirts to help you do just that. Just imagine all of the conversations you’ll generate without even trying. “Hi Leo, I’m a Sagittarius!” The possibilities are endless and the skies the limit.

Custom Mugs: For Coffee and So Much More!

What could be just as important as a great cup of coffee? It has a handle, makes a great penholder, and comes in an infinity of styles and sizes. It’s the coffee mug, of course, and it can make a delicious cup of coffee taste that much better.

I don’t know about you, but I love coming across a great coffee mug. Maybe it’s the size or color or simplicity of the cup. Sometimes I go for the quirky cup, with an odd slogan or an unusual design.

We all have our favorites. Maybe you found it on a vacation, or at a garage sale, or it was a hand me down from one of your parents. It’s not unusual to have more than one either. I have an entire shelf in my cabinet full of mugs; some have retired while others are just getting broken in.

Coffee mugs also make fantastic gifts for friends/family, teammates, and clients. They’re also a great way to promote your business or organization, by creating a Custom Mug. At Idakoos.com, we have a large variety of mugs with great designs to choose from, and we can also help you create the perfect mug for your company, team, or any occasion.

Sports T-shirts & More!

For some people a T-shirt is just another shirt in their drawer. It’s functional and easy to wear and comfortable. It provides a necessary purpose and that’s about it. This type of person isn’t going to spend precious hours hunting through the racks or skimming through online shops for that one of a kind Tee. For the person who sees a T-shirt for more than a basic purpose, and enjoys the hunt for that one of a kind T-shirt, we totally understand!

I’m a fan of live sporting events. So for me, finding the right Sports T-shirt to wear to the game or match or event, makes it even more fun. There was a time when I would scour the racks in my favorite 2nd hand stores when I was living in Portland, Or, in hopes of finding something amazing. I wouldn’t always find great stuff, but when I did, it was oh so satisfying. One time, I found an old T-shirt that made me so happy every time I went to see the Portland Trailblazers play some bball. The shirt was a championship shirt from 1977. It was red and retro and super cool. The shirt didn’t last me too many years, but it’s one that I’ll never forget.

Today, if you can’t find the T-shirt of your dreams, you can create it yourself. It’s gotten a whole lot easier to satisfy that need. So what are you waiting for? At Idakoos.com we believe in freedom of expression.  If you don’t see it on our page, we’ll help you create that one of a kind T-shirt, sweatshirt, or hoodie!

Furry Friends

Cats. You’re either a cat person or you’re not, but there’s no denying that felines have been worshipped, respected, revered, and loved across many parts of the globe. From the Ancient Egyptians, to the crazy cat loving people in North America and beyond, our furry friends are here to stay. Not everyone likes them or understands them, but for those of us who do, we are the lucky ones.

In the United States, many households have both cats and dogs. The families respect them and treat their four legged friends as another valued member of the family. They will go to almost any length and expense for their furry babies, and there are plenty of stores that cater specifically to them.

Large cities throughout the country provide all kinds of special services for animals. From doggie day care to pet hotels and cat grooming and boarding houses to groomers and vets who will make house calls, if there is a need when it comes to pets you can usually bet someone has a business to cater to it.  There are even companies who specialize in pet transportation. From Pet Taxi’s around town to transportation domestically and internationally, they will coordinate and take care of all of the details and paperwork for you and your pet.

While many of us may pamper our pets, the love that they give to us is priceless. Why not show your feline friend how much you love them and wear an I Love Cats Hoodie in their honor. They’ll think you look purrfect!

Born To Be Brave

Across this vast and beautiful world, there are mountains begging to be climbed, rivers roaring to be rafted, and oceans just waiting to be dived into their deep blue waters.

Some people are just born to be brave. They take the path less traveled, gravitate towards adventure, and taking calculated risks.

Anyone who has visited Yosemite National Park in California, and has stood at Inspiration Point and looked down on the beautiful valley, can’t help but gasp in awe of it’s captivating beauty. Granite peaks, waterfalls, a river and vast meadows are screaming to be explored. Half-Dome, Glacier Point, and Yosemite Falls are all popular, beautiful and challenging places to hike to the top of, but only a fraction of Yosemite’s visitors will climb the face of El Capitan or Royal Arches. Yosemite is known around the world for it’s climbing and provides classes and guides for anyone who wants to take on the challenge.

In Australia’s Palmerston National Park located in North Queensland lies the North Johnstone River. Surrounded by ancient rainforests and carving its way through a volcanic gorge, this river is a beast waiting to be challenged. For all those whom dare to ride down this Class IV & V River, the experience will leave you breathless. Before the journey even begins you must first take a helicopter to reach its banks. Once on the river, you’ll spend 4 days rock’n rolling down it’s steep fast flowing waters. At night you’ll sleep under the stars experiencing nature in it’s rawest form. It’s an adventure for the brave and those wanting an unforgettable experience.

Some well-known and unbelievable spots for scuba diving can be found in Hawaii, Australia, and Indonesia. Well there’s also an area 220 miles off the coast of Brazil is an archipelago of volcanic islands known as Fernando de Noronha. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Brazil’s first Marine Park, this saltwater playground offers a chance for divers to swim in its blue waters with dolphins, and turtles, and a myriad of sea life. Besides the great diving and beaches, you’ll get to experience the islands in relative privacy. Only 420 people are permitted on the island at a time, making it an amazing getaway for the adventurous spirit.

Maybe you were born to brave, maybe you are finding your braveness one step at a time. Either way, why not let everyone know that you’re fearless and pick up a born to be brave t-shirt from our online shop @ Idakoos.com.

As Unique As Your Coffee Mug

Coffee. The smell of a freshly brewed cup in your favorite coffee mug swirling in front of you, the jolt of energy you receive after sipping on it. You either love it or you hate it. But no one can argue that it’s a huge thriving industry that keeps expanding.

Coffee has been making its way from cup to mouth for generations. From the campfire to the breakfast table, it has been a tried and true staple that’s not leaving anytime soon.

The Italians love their espresso and have specific times in which they enjoy it. It’s poured to perfection and enjoyed slowly.

In the United States the coffee house environment thrived in the Pacific Northwest 20 yrs before it started spreading like wildfire across the rest of the country. In cities like Portland and Seattle, they have been enjoying espresso beverages from their coffee carts, Victorian Coffee houses and the more modern coffee shops, before trendy became the norm.

One large coffee company has taken the country and world by storm. They are the fast food of coffee. One of the reasons why their business thrived was because they created a comfortable, welcoming environment where their patrons knew they could enjoy a cup of coffee, or an espresso beverage while relaxing and socializing or enjoying free WiFi.  They also created an iced blended beverage that was so popular, that many customers were going back every day or twice a day to get their fix. Many locations even have a drive-thru, for those of us who don’t have the time to relax.

Today, specialty coffee shops are on the rise. They offer single brew coffees along with simple espresso beverages. It’s all about the bean and the pour. Some shops offer coffee tastings and classes, kind of looks like we’ve gone full circle.

Maybe you love coffee. Maybe you hate it. Why not express it? Idakoos.com

London 2012

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 4 yrs since the last Summer Olympic Games opened in Beijing, China on 08/08/08. This year, nearly 5100 miles to the west, London, England is set to play host to the Games of the XXX Olympiad, which will open on July 27th.

From the Opening Ceremonies on July 27th to the Closing Ceremonies on August 12th all eyes will be on London for the following 17 days. The world’s best athletes will come together and compete for Gold in 26 sports, which include 39 disciplines. While sadly baseball and softball have been dropped from the games, Women’s Boxing has finally made its way into the games and was the only new sport to be added.

From around the world, 154 nations have currently qualified at least one athlete to compete in the games. Many of these athletes have worked their entire lives to compete on this famous stage. Some of them overcoming huge physical and financial barriers to qualify and follow their dreams.  For a majority of them, the reach for gold will fall short, but even so, these athletes will take away with them something very special. They have earned the right to call themselves an Olympian. Which is one of the greatest honors in competitive sports. Something most of us can only dream of achieving.

It would be a dream for me to make it to London as a spectator. I would take my I love London hoodie with me, and wear it with pride inside the indoor stadiums, and have as many Olympians as I could find, sign it. I know what you’re thinking, that’s crazy, like I’d be able to find an Olympian to sign my hoodie. But realistically I probably would be able to find them.

When I was at the 2004 Olympics in Greece, they were everywhere. The Russian Women’s Gymnastics team walked right in front of me and a Platform Diver from Australia was on the same tour of Athens as I was, and I even had drinks with a Peruvian rower at the Olympic Village.  So I know I might cross paths with some Olympians, but whether they would actually sign my hoodie is another thing entirely. I can dream too, ya know.

The Call of the Road or Wide Open Spaces

Spring is officially here. Spring break is in full swing all across the country, and summer will be here in a flash. As the warmer temperatures rise, and the weather forecasters call for more sun and clear skies from New York to California, it’s time to bust out the map or GPS and hit the open road.

From wide-open spaces to curvy mountain roads and scenic ocean drives, nothing smells more of an adventure than the excitement of what lies ahead. Road trips are a time to leave all of your worries in the rear view mirror and focus on the scenic horizon ahead. Whether it’s a spontaneous adventure for the day or weekend, or it’s a planned trip for a week or more, the one thing that’s true about the road, is the promise of new things to come. No two trips will ever be the same.

Maybe you’re heading to a family reunion two states away or your best friends wedding across the country or you haven’t the faintest idea of where you’ll end up; one of the best parts of a road trip is the actual trip itself. The in-between of points A to B are what it’s all about. The early morning breakfasts in a greasy diner, the rest-stop breaks in the middle of nowhere, the detours to corn museums or strange gravity forests, and the late night caffeine refills make it all worthwhile, and of course, let’s not forget the scenery and music to go along with it.

If you know you’re going to take a road-trip, by yourself or with a caravan, why not have even more fun and let us help you create something special for your journey. Maybe a Team Gayle T-shirt or Team Force or Team Wind!  For those sun rise mornings and late night adventures, it will be the perfect addition to an unforgettable trip across the open road!
